Guide Posts
Yesterday, BB and the boys (my blind sheep and a group of young rams), meandered, while grazing to the far end of a ten acre pasture where they stopped for a nap in the shade. As BB napped, the young rams woke up and wandered off, not realizing that BB was not with them.
When BB woke up, he was alone, and likely had that somewhat confused, “wait, where am I” feeling when you wake up in an unusual place. I can only imagine how scary it is to have that happen when you are blind. I watched from the window as the situation unfolded, resisting the urge as his shepherd, to intervene.
At first, BB walked in circles, likely calling to the others. When he did not get a response, he began walking toward the fence. Once he reached that guide post, he settled down and even relaxed enough to graze, knowing that he was no longer lost as long as he followed the fence.
As we walk through life, each of us are going to find ourselves in situations where we feel lost, confused, and alone. There are times that we will be walking in proverbial circles trying to figure out what our next step will be. Thankfully, God’s Word, and the Holy Spirit are our Guide Posts, always pointing us in the right direction.
So if you are in a place of fear, confusion, or uncertainty today, remember that you can open the Bible to receive instruction. You can pray and ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom, guidance, and direction, but most of all, remember that your Shepherd is watching you, ready to step in an interviene if you call on Him.
Isaiah 30:20-21
And though the Lord gives you
The bread of adversity and the water of affliction,
Yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore,
But your eyes shall see your teachers.
Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.
