Hope For The Brokenhearted

As the sun goes down, it gets loud on the farm. Mamas calling to their babies, mean it’s time for the young ones to eat and settle down for the night. The babies call back and try to figure out where to go in a sea of black cows.
Peace and quiet meant everyone was reunited and happily nursing. As I headed to finish up evening chores, I was surprised to see a lone calf on the opposite side of the fence. “Where’s your Mama buddy? Why isn’t she calling for you? Why don’t you call her if you’re not sure where to go?”

Then I remembered. Earlier in the week JW told me he had to bury a cow that had a calf old enough to make it without her😢. This must be the orphan. It broke my heart because he seemed so sad. I walked behind him to encourage him to go back to the herd. He walked slowly, without any urgency or purpose. Slowly, he made his way into the pasture with the rest of the cows.

At one time or another, we have all felt like this calf? Depressed, sad, alone. We all know that everyone will experience tribulation, but we also know that doesn’t make it hurt any less. Thankfully, God loves us, and sees our pain

Psalm 34:18 (NKJV)
The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
Psalm 147:3 (NKJV)
He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

So if you are going through a tough time, you are not alone! Look to Christ, and ask him to be your Lord and Savior. Ask him to bind up your wounds and heal your broken heart. He, (and only He) can give you peace and comfort in times of sorrow and pain.
But what about this little fella? There are two more orphans in that pasture who are best friends. I’m sure they will be happy to invite him to be part of their team. I will keep an eye on him but he should acclimate to his new family quickly.
